Film Shooting Experiences

First off, I’d like to say that I really enjoy shooting on film.  I always have.  This assignment is really fun because you can shoot whatever you want as well as get to see the differences in f-stops on the same picture.  One thing that stuck with me from this project is a conversation between Whitney and me.  We were going to shoot the reality shots, and I kept suggesting to take nature shots.  Whitney was the one to suggest the road and other manmade items.  This stuck with me because as simple as it sounds, my mind was geared to think, “ok…reality: nature” when actually manmade things can be just as beautiful and interesting.  The idea of viewing things as new and outside of their normal world or occupation is a practice that I’d like to always continue to work on. That being said, I really like the picture Jessica took of the fire hydrant in the midst of a tree infested background. The mix of nature and industrial is super interesting, especially since both items featured in the picture have the same shape. The juxtaposition of it catches your eye while giving you a new perspective on the positioning of the fire hydrant. It’s almost surreal.
