Exactly 24
years ago from this upcoming Sunday, my mother was rushed into New Hanover
County Hospital. The date: Labor Day, September 1, 1989. The reason: To bring
into the world a beautiful bubbly baby girl.
That girl was me, Allison Leigh Godsey; however, this day in time, I go
by Ally. After being born in Wilmington,
my family and I moved to Macon, Georgia where we spent my early years. During this peach grove infested stint, we
moved to Lacrosse, Wisconsin due to my father’s job. After freezing down to our very soul we
returned to Macon after only six months, we decided to forego the normal car
trek back and spent an extended period of time traveling around North America
in a motorhome…my grandparents, my parents, my older sister, and I had reached
Partridge Family status. Upon returning
to Macon, my mother was expecting, which prompted us to move back to
Wilmington, NC. Thus my little brother was born. Nothing important happened from then until I graduated
from Topsail High School in 2007 and decided to join the US Coast Guard. I ended up being stationed in Los Angeles,
California where I spent the next four and a half years. After my time in the
Coast Guard and some time off in California, I decided to buckle down and go
back to school. I returned to Wilmington
and was accepted into UNCW. A couple
years, trips, experiences, and classes later… here we go…
